Whew!

As I was thinking about today's post something crossed my mind. We're pretty boring. Our summer activities seem to consist mainly of yard work. I then justified this with the reality that we have nearly an acre of yard, and keeping it up isn't easy. We also do our share of playing on the weekends, so the hard work is balancing. I guess... Sometimes it just feels exhausting.

Last night we decided to tackle the strip of garden that is on the lower side of the stone wall next to the driveway. The plan was to do some weeding. I started up the hill a little bit. When I got around the corner, I saw that Mike was really "into" the task.

He figured, why pull weeds? We [liberally] sprayed Roundup a couple of weeks ago, and everything was decimated. Why not dig it up?

Where you see dirt was dead weeds and grass before Mike cleaned it up.

This is the next section down. It had not been cleared when I took the picture. Below it is the "after."

Mike stopped to let me take his picture. Thanks, sweetie :)

This is not my most flattering self-portrait, but I wanted you all to see that I really was there and working...

Mattie's role in this project was limited to sleepy supervision.

It sure came out nice, though! We have a good amount of work to do in this area, but this is a good start.

We were so dirty we had to hose down before we could go in the house.

Have a happy day!
