As we were puttering around getting things done yesterday, I felt so happy to be back home. Later I gave thought to what made me happy. Here's what I came up with:
1. Being comfy and cozy. Five days of tent camping did not include a nice comfortable sofa, television, or my robe and slippers.
2. Our bed. No bed is as good as our own bed. The bed in the trailer was better than the air mattress we had in the tent, but the bed at home is the best!
3. Our shower. I can't tell you enough how nice it is to have my own shower. Plenty of space, hot water, and all my own stuff!
4. Air conditioning! Even though our whole house is not climate-controlled, having a comfortable bedroom is so much nicer than a stuffy humid tent (we did have a bit of rain last week).
5. And, last, but certainly not least, Mattie. His kitty Nana was so wonderful to go and sit with him both in the morning and in the evening every day we were gone. We are all so lucky to have her! I am taking the liberty of sharing some of an email she sent us this week about her time with Mattie:
"I let him out but he was not to happy... He watched TV with me, sitting on my neck -- almost on my head -- sitting on my outstretched leg... He has a ritual of walking up my chest and staring at me in the face and then peculiarly sits on my shoulder and arm... He is a character and today would not stop talking.... I think the storm scared him...I rubbed is neck for a long while and that calmed him down..."
Aaaw! Isn't that wonderful?! Mattie should feel so loved!
Back tomorrow with more on the trip!
