West Point (NY) -- updated

We have been at West Point since Tuesday evening. Mike is here for a work meeting, while I am just tagging along for fun. We're staying at the Thayer Hotel, which overlooks the Hudson River. It is nice to get to do something a bit out of the ordinary.

Updated 11:45 am: After waiting at the South Dock for over an hour I gave up hope on Constitution Island. There was, apparently, some miscommunication amongst the staff. I am a bit disappointed, but these things do happen.

Today I will visit Constitution Island. Aside from being an important part of the American Revolution, the island was home to Susan and Anna Warner, two important literary figures. Susan wrote The Wide, Wide World; Anna wrote the words to a hymn that most of us know -- Jesus Loves Me. The island is open to the public June to September. I was lucky to be able to attend with a school group that was scheduled to be on the island. I'll be at West Point's South Dock by 10:30 am to take ferry to the island. Below is a little video showing the island.

I am sure I'll have a more detailed post about the fun I'm having once we are back home!

Have a Happy Day :)
